First Winner for Stratum Star

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 21

Dual Group I winner Stratum Star broke the ice on Sunday to sire his first winner with a debut victory for Avalicious.

Trained at Dubbo by Clint Lundholm, two year-old filly Avalicious was easy in the market but belied the lack of interest from punters to lead all the way and win over 1200m at Coonamble by a length and a half.

Retained to race by her breeder, Avalicious is the fourth winner from handy producer Evert, a metor winning Belong to Me (USA) mare from the family of Group I winner Princess Jenni and Group III winner Beauty Watch.

Standing at Widden Stud this spring at a fee of $8,800, Stratum Star has had four place-getters and now his first winner.

Stratum Star

A striking chestnut son of Stratum, Stratum Star comes from a superb female family tracing to Emancipation.
