World First for Kingman and Frankel

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 10

For breeders and pedigree analysts there was a very interesting stakes-winner in the UK overnight that is the first anywhere in the world to combine the blood of young super sires Kingman and Frankel, who both stand at Juddmonte.

Trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin, two year-old Kingman colt Noble Truth improved on his last start fourth in a Group III race at York to score a tenacious head win in the Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes (7f) at Doncaster.

With two wins and a placing from four starts, he has good potential but needs to improve his racing manners as he tends to go a little too hard for his own good.

“It's nice to get Noble Truth back on track. He won nicely at Newmarket and disappointed last time for no apparent reason,” said Alex Merriam, assistant trainer.

“He settled nicely today and I'm pleased with him. I just had a quick chat with Charlie and there are no immediate plans but we'll stick to seven furlongs.”

Noble Truth was a 1.1million euro Arqana Deauville Yearling Sale purchase for Godolphin.

A €1.1million purchase for Godolphin from the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale, Noble Truth is from a three-quarter sister -in-blood to Frankel’s Japanese Group I winner Soul Stirring. He is the first winner unraced Speralita, a half-sister to Champion French 3YO Filly and triple Group I winner Stacelita.

Noble Truth is one of five winners for Frankel as a broodmare sire, but is his first stakes-winner in that context.

Noble Truth is the 41st stakes-winner for Kingman, whose son Calyx (GB) stands at Coolmore Australia this spring and has his first foals here this year.

Calyx is a Premium stallion, click for more information.
