Positive Impact

When a young stallion embarks on his new career at stud there is always a little anxiety ahead of his first mares covered being tested to be in foal and for Leneva Park’s triple Group I winner Fierce Impact (Jpn) the news is all positive.

Fierce Impact stands at a fee of $16,500, click for more information.

“It’s an incredibly nervous couple of weeks waiting for the first 15 day scans for Fierce Impact, but thankfully he is extremely fertile,” said General Manager Michael Sharkie.

“When Brian called me with those first few positive tests you take a big sigh of relief, then the excitement kicks in because he’s covered some really good mares so far and has plenty of quality to come in his book.”

Fierce Impact has over 30 stakes-winners or stakes producers in his first book and some of the early mares to test positive include:

  • Imported stakes-winner Georgia’s Reward (USA) (Warrior’s Reward), a superbly bred close relation to Australian Group I winners Artorius (Blue Diamond Stakes) and Delectation (Coolmore Stud Stakes)
  • She’s a Danica (Sebring), the dam of current season three year-old stakes winner He’s Xceptional
  • Absolutelyfabulous (Langfuhr) Group III winning multiple stakes winning sprinter that was also second in a Group I VRC Myer Classic.
  • Magnanime  (GB) (Elusive City) Listed winner at Chantilly French stakes winner from the family of Newmarket Thousand Guineas winner Ghanaati and Sydney Cup winner Shraaoh.
  • Suite Annie (Hotel Grand), a four time winning half-sister to $6.4million earning seven time Group I winner Buffering.

“From a stallion master’s point of view, he is a first season stallion with very strong fertility and that has obvious appeal you take away a lot of risk,” said Operations Manager Brian Byrnes.

“Fierce has covered maiden mares, proven producers and some older matrons that have had a few issues in recent seasons and he’s got them all in foal. He’s certainly potent.

“He’s already been busy which is great but now we know he’s fertile I expect we’ll have a late rush given his quality.”

A winner at two, that trained on with great success as an older horse, Fierce Impact has won more Group I races than any other son of Deep Impact at stud in Australia and has a superb female pedigree.

His Group I winning full brother Keiai Nautique is also now racing in Australia for Matthew Smith, who trained Fierce Impact and has shown serious potential in his two runs so far this spring.

Deep Impact has a great record as a sire in Australia with 19 winners from 35 runners, so nearly 75% winners to runners and his three stakes-winners are all Group I winners with boom colt Profondo looking to improve those statistics when he lines up in the Group III ATC Gloaming Stakes on Saturday.

The team at Leneva Park have also been thrilled with the feedback on first foals by their Group I winning Invincible Spirit stallion Royal Meeting (IRE).

Royal Meeting (IRE) stands at a fee of $11,000, click for more information.

“We already knew Royal Meeting was fertile after his first season and he has picked up where he left off,” said Michael Sharkie.

“He’s already covered a three-quarter sister to Remarque and Slipper winner Estijaab, stakes winner Westport and I’m very confident he will cover more than the 88 he saw in 2020 – his foals are impressive.

“Each week that goes by we get another photo of a lovely Royal Meeting foal, Damian White sent one over this week from G1 producer Sogha, another quality young horse.”

Another lovely foal for Royal Meeting, this filly from Red Ransom (USA) mare Sogha, the dam of South African G1 winner Mahbooba.
