Coolmore Filly Wins Twilight Glow

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 27

The Lindsay Park team have had plenty of success over the years with fillies carrying the Coolmore colours that include Group I winners Personal and Irish Lights, the combination featuring at Caulfield on Saturday when Ben and JD Hayes trained Lady of Honour to win the Listed MRC Twilight Glow Stakes (1400m).

A three year-old filly by former Coolmore shuttler No Nay Never (USA), Lady of Honour was second on debut in the $200,000 Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic earlier this year before heading to the spelling paddock.

She returned to win a maiden at Ballarat in October and then backed up to win at Sandown then made it three wins on the trot when leading all the way to win her first Black Type race by half a length with Jake Noonan in the saddle.

Noonan has ridden the filly in each of her three wins from four starts with connections banking nearly $180,000 in prizemoney.

“This was the race we targeted for her, so it was nice to win it,” said Ben Hayes.

“We do love these Coolmore fillies, we’ve had a lot of success with them over the years and they’ve always been great supporters of ours and they have stuck strong.

“There’s not too much around for her now, but she will be a bit of fun in the autumn.”

Lady of Honour was a $175,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for US investor Justin Casse, who shares in her ownership with Coolmore and Paul Shanahan.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Lady of Honour is the best of two winners from Fastnet Rock mare Majesty, a daughter of Irish Group III winner Kincara Palace.

Majesty was on-sold by Coolmore last year in an Inglis Digital Sale for $37,500 and is now with Mike O’Donnell at Fairhill Farm.

She has a yearling colt by Vancouver that was sold earlier this year as a weanling for $52,500 at the Inglis Weanling Sale and had a colt foal this spring by Too Darn Hot (GB).

Lady of Honour is the 36th stakes-winner for Scat Daddy stallion No Nay Never, who shuttled to Coolmore Australia for four seasons.

No Nay Never stands at a fee of 125,000 euros in Ireland in 2022.
