Second Winner for Russian Revolution

Mark Smith - Sunday December 12

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Rise Of The Masses made a winning career debut over 1000m at Kembla Grange on Saturday to ring up the second winner for Newgate Farm’s Russian Revolution.

Given a positive ride by Winona Costin, Rise Of The Masses defeated the Your Song filly Matisse's Comet by a neck with a further one and a quarter lengths back to the Sebring filly Fun Sunday in third.

A homebred for Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock, Rise Of The Masses is the second foal and second winner out of the Bernardini (USA) mare Ruud Awakening.

A $90,000 Karaka yearling, Rudd Awakening won the Group 1 Diamond Stakes (1200m), Listed Wellesley Stakes (1000m), and Listed Karaka Million (1200m) for Stephen Marsh.

She was consigned by Attunga Stud to the 2015 National Broodmare Sale where Paul Moroney signed the ticket for $675,000.

Sir Owen has a bit to look forward to as Ruud Awakening has yearling filly by I Am Invincible and a filly foal by Snitzel.

Russian Revolution has 39 catalogued for the Gold Coast and 30 at the Inglis Classic.
