One to Watch - Ballarat

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 27

The most expensive yearling by Zoustar sold in 2021 when selling for $1.25million, this well named colt scored a scintillating debut win on Sunday at Ballarat.

The Matt Laurie trained Zamborghini had shown ability at the trials and was sent to the post a hot favourite for the 1110m maiden.

He made light work of the assignment, zooming away from stakes-placed Godolphin 2YO Lascars to win in a breeze under Ben Melham.

Zamborghini holds an entry for the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes and is obviously held in high regard.

Zamborghini was a $1.25million Inglis Easter purchase from Widden Stud.
Bred by Widden Stud in partnership and offered at Inglis Easter where he was snapped up by his trainer, Zamborghini runs for a syndicate that includes his breeders.

Zamborghini is the first foal of Lady Jivago, a speedy stakes-winning two year-old by Beneteau from the Singles Bar branch of the Easy Date family that has produced Group I winners King’s Legacy, Oohood and leading sire Not a Single Doubt.

Lady Jivago has no yearling for the sales this year, but produced another colt by Zoustar last spring and is back in foal to him again.
