First Season Sires at Premier

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 2

The Inglis Premier Yearling Sale this week provided encouraging results for a number of first season sires with Lean Mean Machine repeating his success at Inglis Classic where he led the first season sire averages for three or more sold.

Lean Mean Machine

Aquis Farm based Lean Mean Machine had three yearlings sell at Inglis Classic at an average $225,000 and he kept up the good work at Oaklands with three more yearlings averaging $198,333 to finish on top again.

$300,000 Lean Mean Machine colt from Innocent I Am.

His best result was a colt from Innocent I Am that made $300,000 for Blue Gum Farm when bought by Griffiths de Kock Racing / Peter Ford Thoroughbreds.

He is the second foal of a winning half-sister by Stratum to stakes-winners Innocent Gamble and Viking Legend.

Not far behind was Collingrove Stud’s colt from I’m a Flying Star that made $240,000 when snapped up by Clinton McDonald Racing.

Widden Stud’s Blue Diamond winner Written By was expected to impress and did so with nine yearlings averaging $183,333.

$380,000 Written By colt from Elite Ateates.

Top seller for the son of Written Tycoon was a $380,000 colt offered by Springmount from good producer Elite Ateates and snapped up by McEvoy Mitchell Racing / Belmont Bloodstock Agency.

He was the single highest price for a first season sire and is a half-brother to Group I winning sprinter Elite Street.

Gilgai Farm also had a good result with Written By selling a colt from stakes-placed Holy Cow for $260,000 to Hawkes Racing.
