Entries Open for 2022 National Online Yearling Sale

Media Release - Wednesday March 16

Entries for New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2022 National Online Yearling Sale are now open, with the Sale set to be held on NZB’s online subsidiary Gavelhouse Plus for the second year in a row.

The catalogue will be available to view online from Friday 8 April, with bidding set to close on Wednesday 20 April.

With the upwards trend in online sales continuing, NZB's National Online Yearling Sale will take place off the back of an extremely successful 2021 Ready to Run Sale, where online bidding accounted for 51% of lots sold for more than $9 million dollars.

Online bidding facilities were also well received at NZB’s recent Karaka 2022 Book 1 and Book 2 Sales, where the total online turnover surpassed $10 million dollars and the platform was responsible for selling 103 lots remotely.

NZB Bloodstock Executive Kane Jones commented on the prime opportunity for breeders.

“Online bidding has been extremely well received by our buyers and plays an integral role in the way we sell bloodstock in the current climate and into the future.”

“This Sale offers an attractive and viable option for breeders to take advantage of the lower cost structure associated with selling horses through our proven online platform Gavelhouse Plus,” he said.

A significant benefit of the digital catalogue is that all Lots offered in the National Online Yearling Sale are eligible to be nominated for NZB’s lucrative Karaka Million Series.

Just nine short months after they make their virtual sale-ring debut, graduates of the online sale can compete for a share in the $1m Doubletree by Hilton Karaka Million 2YO (1200m), followed by the $1m Karaka Million 3YO Classic (1600m) and $100,000 CollinsonForex Karaka Cup (2200m) for the remainder of their careers.

Entries for the 2022 National Online Yearling Sale are open now and will close Wednesday 23 March. To enter the Sale, visit NZB's online portal at portal.nzb.co.nz or for enquiries contact NZB's Bloodstock Administrator Mary Jane Harvey by calling +64 9 393 9832 or emailing MaryJane.Harvey@nzb.co.nz.

Following normal Sale protocol, the National Online Yearling Sale will continue to be run under NZB Terms and Conditions.
