Perfect Storm - New Generation of 2YO Stars for Segenhoe

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 29

Consistent stakes success built over time is what sets some vendors apart from their rivals with the current crop of two year-olds from Segenhoe Stud racing up a perfect storm in the lead up to the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next week.

The paddocks of Segenhoe have produced a long honour roll of superior stakes performing athletes at a strike rate of 16% with Group I winners such as Merchant Navy, King’s Legacy, Oohood, Manuel, Hiyaam, Eagle Way, Mizzy and HK International Sprint winner Sky Field leading the way.

Adding their names to the Segenhoe story of success this year have been Group winning 2YO fillies Seven Veils (Shalaa (IRE) and Amelia’s Jewel (Siyouni) as well as exciting unbeaten 2YO colts Let’srollthedice (Dundeel) and Millane (Zoustar), a brilliant stakes-winner on debut at Flemington.

Not to mention Group placed Drisana and Emperor, who has a half-sister in the Inglis Easter draft.

Let’srollthedice won the Group II VRC Sires Produce Stakes at his most recent run and will seek to up the ante in the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick this Saturday.

Flemington stakes-winner Millane was a $1.15million purchase from the Inglis Easter Segenhoe draft last year - image Grant Courtney.

Millane was a $1,150,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Segenhoe draft last year for Moody Racing / Rosemont Victorian Alliance / Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) / David Redvers Bloodstock and looks every inch the stallion prospect in the making they were hoping to purchase!

Segenhoe raise and consign yearlings for themselves and clients showcasing a wide variety of champion sires ensuring broad appeal across the marketplace.

First foal of stakes-placed half-sister to Champion 2YO Filly and 3YO Filly and $3.4million earner English, winner of G1 ATC All Aged Stakes and BRC Doomben 10,000.

“Stunning colt with an action to die for. His mother was a $1.9 million yearling and he is as good a Lonhro as I have seen.”

Lot 47 Filly I Am Invincible x Amuletum (GB), by New Approach

Second foal of a winning half-sister to triple Group I winner Anamoe and daughter of Group I winner Anamato. Bred on similar I Am Invincible x Galileo cross to Group I winning $3million earner Invincibella.

“Beautiful Vinny filly who is all class and has an extraordinary presence. Her mother being a half-sister to Anamoe and out of a daughter of Redoute’s Choice, so she has absolutely everything going for her.”

Lot 82 Colt Pierro x Breakfast in Bed, by Hussonet (USA)

Half-brother to dual Group I winner King’s Legacy, winner of ATC Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes. From stakes-placed Breakfast in Bed, a half-sister to Group I winner Oohood from the family of leading sire Not a Single Doubt.

“Pedigree needs no introduction and he is as precocious a Pierro as I have seen who exudes quality.”

Lot 169 Colt I Am Invincible x Fireworks, by Snitzel

Half-brother to this season’s exciting 2YO stakes-winner Millane (2c Zoustar) and is third foal from Group III winner Fireworks, a half-sister to Group I winner Calveen, Group II winner Kosi Bay and stakes-winner Striker.

Simply a magnificent type and his half-brother Millane now a stakes winner with G1 potential for the future despite his scratching from the Sire Produce Stakes this Saturday.”

Lot 149 Colt Merchant Navy x Elusive Wonder by Elusive Quality (USA)

Half-brother to Champion 2YO Filly and $3.4million earner Away Game and stakes-winner Modern Wonder from stakes-placed Elusive Wonder.

“I believe this is the best Merchant Navy I have seen and the absolute image of his father. Being a half-brother to Away Game helps also!”

Lot 236 Filly Zoustar x Jolie Bay, by Fastnet Rock

Half-sister to Group placed God of Thunder and this season’s G3 Breeders Plate placed colt Emperor from Group II winner Jolie Bay, a full sister to dual Group I winner Merchant Navy and stakes-winner Setanta. Also new to the family is this season’s stakes-winning 2YO filly Ebhaar.

“Outstanding type, all quality and glides over the ground with ease. I don’t think there is a family as hot as the Legally Bay family right now.”
