Eight Winners for Russian Revolution

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 29

Newgate Farm’s leading first season sire Russian Revolution added an eighth winner to his tally at Muswellbrook on Friday when the Michael Freedman trained Insurrection captured the $35,000 Star Kingdom Handicap (1000m).

Third on debut at Gosford last month and then a troubled seventh in the Group III ATC Kindergarten Stakes at Randwick on a bottomless track, Insurrection appreciated a drop in grade and firmer track to score a length win over race favourite Economics, an Anabel Neasham trained son of Capitalist.

A $150,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Ascot Park draft for Darby Racing / Will Johnson Bloodstock, Insurrection was bred by Bob Hannon and is the first winner for Marple Miss, a metro winning three-quarter sister to Cox Plate winning Group I sire Shamus Award.

Insurrection was a $150,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Darby Racing / Will Johnson Bloodstock.
Russian Revolution has had a fee increase this spring and will stand at $71,500.

Newgate sires Deep Field and Flying Artie also posted 2YO winners in Friday with Deep Expectation breaking through at Muswellbrook following a string of minor placings, while Chayse ‘n’ Artie saluted at the Sunshine Coast at his second start.
