Tarzino’s emergence as a serious source of quality staying performers has earned the Westbury Stud resident a service fee increase for the 2022 season.
The dual Group 1-winning son of Tavistock’s flagship representatives have been the current G1 Queensland Oaks favourite Gypsy Goddess while his son Jungle Magnate is second favourite for the upcoming G1 South Australian Derby.
The former was successful in the G3 Grand Prix Stakes before recording G1 placings in the ATC Oaks and Vinery Stud Stakes, while Jungle Magnate was a dominant last-start victor in the G3 Chairman’s Stakes.
They are representatives of his first crop while recent Listed Anzac Day Stakes runner-up Foreign Raider has been to the fore from his second crop.
Tarzino’s fee has been set at $15,000 + GST while El Roca, whose stallion profile continues on an upward spiral, will rise to $12,500 + GST for next season.
“Tarzino is going very well, particularly in Australia, and El Roca has come through the grades and he was at a low-end service fee when he started his career,” Westbury General Manager Russell Warwick said.
“We’ll never get away from Australian being our biggest market and Tarzino’s first crop were bought strongly by Australians and it’s been rewarding to see they have been patient with them and they are reaping the rewards.
“He has got a wonderful bunch of horses coming through now they are maturing as autumn three-year-olds, as we thought they would.
“El Roca has done really well to the point where he has horses like Mali Ston, Lucky Patch and the unbeaten Norwegian Bliss. He has made very good progression.”
Mali Ston claimed top honours in the G2 Rich Hill Stud Mile and was third in the G1 Thompson Handicap while Lucky Patch is a dual Group Two winner in Hong Kong and Norwegian Bliss has a perfect Australian record after six appearances.
El Roca’s daughter Irish Girl is also a dual black type winner this term and son White Noise triumphed in the G3 Wellington Stakes. Another three-year-old Wewillrock is a two-time stakes placegetter against the best of his age group.
Reliable Man, who has sired Group One winners Miami Bound, Inspirational Girl and Sentimental Miss, will be stand at $16,000 + GST.
“He has had another great season with five individual stakes winners and 10 stakes performers this season,” Warwick said.
Reliable Man has been well represented at the highest level this season with Benaud a close second in the ATC Derby to Champion 3YO Hitotsu, while the mares Annavisto and Inspirational Girl were impressive Group winners at Flemington before Annavisto went onto run a game second in the ATC Queeen of the Turf Stakes Gr.1.
The fee for High Chaparral’s Group 1-winning son Redwood, sire of this season’s G3 Sunline Vase (2100m) winner Bellatrix Black and Listed Champagne Stakes (1600m) winner Sharp ‘N’ Smart, will remain unchanged at $8,000 + GST.
Street Cry’s son Telperion will stand at $6,000 + GST and long-standing source of success Swiss Ace completes the roster at $5000 + GST.
Westbury will again be offering its no foal, no fee policy across all six stallions with fees not payable until a live foal is on the ground at 24 hours of age.
