Grenville Stud Confirm 2022 Fees

Media Release - Friday July 8

Grenville Stud is pleased to announce that we will be standing Zululand, Stratosphere and Mawingo this upcoming breeding season. 2022 Service Fees Stratosphere - $4,000 + GST
Zululand - $5,000 + GST
Mawingo - $2,500 + GST

Stratosphere has left outstanding individuals and it is no surprise that his first crop yearlings were exceptionally well received this year in the sale ring. His yearlings averaged over $36k (9 x service fee) providing breeders with one of the best return on service fee of any stallion in Australia. Stratosphere’s yearlings sold for $125k, $80k, $70k, $65k etc and were bought by many leading local and interstate trainers and we can’t wait to see them hit the track in the months ahead.

Stratosphere Stratosphere had blistering speed and he has certainly stamped his progeny who  look to be precocious, early individuals. Stratosphere is by 4 times champion sire Snitzel who continues to be the hottest sire in the country and is out of an exceptionally fast female line being a full brother to stakes winners Sprightly Lass and Le Cordon Bleu. Trainer Peter Snowden had a very high opinion of Stratosphere, starting him in a Group race as he believed he had was going to be a top class galloper.

Peter Snowden stated - “He had precocious speed and untapped ability and showed that at his first start when running second, beaten by a short half head, even though he was very inexperienced. He was a genuine Group 1 horse and we felt he was the best 2YO we had that season.” Zululand’s progeny are showing plenty of promise and we are getting great reports from trainers who have them in their stables. Grenville Stud are very excited by what his progeny have done to date from very limited runners.

Zululand

His 2YO’s have all shown ability and include the promising Lieutenant Lewis, Zufasta, Amabutho, Muscle Man and Perisseuo. Zululand’s progeny have been hitting the line very well and look like they will develop into lovely 3YO’s.

Zululand provides breeders with what the Australian market wants. He was an exceptional 2YO winning the Group 2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes and then going on to run second in the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes. Zululand is by sire of sires Fastnet Rock and comes from an exceptional female family being out of the Group 2 winning mare Dream Play who is a half-sister to the Group 1 winner Diplomat Lady. We are delighted with how well the progeny of Zululand and Stratosphere have been received at the yearling sales over the last couple of years. Graeme McCulloch stated " Zululand was a $1.5m yearling and Stratosphere was a $925k yearling and we are extremely fortunate to have these two stallions who stamp their progeny, so it is no surprise that they are leaving great types." Mawingo will be standing the upcoming season for $2,500 + GST. From a very limited number of matings Mawingo continues to produce winners locally with his progeny being headlined by the ever consistent Soldier of Love and Yarra Master.
