HEAT 3 – colts – Mach Ten – 51.97 seconds

A pair of expensive colts in the James Harron Bloodstock colours filled the quinella in this heat with $1.2 million Exceed and Excel colt Mach Ten scoring narrowly over $1.1million I Am Invincible colt Godfather with a gap back to the third horse Kintyre, the half-brother by Hallowed Crown to Golden Slipper winner Fireburn.

Bit of pressure with a name like Mach Ten, which would not fit well on a slow horse, but this Michael Freedman trained colt looks to have the Maverick need for speed, ‘not happy unless he’s flying ‘mach ten’ with his hair on fire!

Mach Ten was the most expensive yearling by Exceed and Excel sold in 2022.

Bred and sold by Fernrigg Farm at Magic Millions, Mach Ten is the first foal from imported Street Boss stakes-winner Devious Rumor (USA) and was the most expensive yearling sold in 2022 by Exceed and Excel.

HEAT 2 – Fillies – Perfect Proposal – 51.06 seconds

Thoroughly professional, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Russian Revolution filly Perfect Proposal did everything right jumping fast to cross and lead before kicking on to win by a couple of lengths.

A $420,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds from the Sledmere Stud draft, Perfect Proposal was bred by China Horse Club.

Perfect Proposal was a $420,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

A filly from a fast family, Perfect Proposal is a half-sister to stakes-placed Lady Sharapova and Papillon from Group III placed Encosta de Lago mare Perfect Persuasion, a full sister to Champion Filly Alinghi, who won a Blue Diamond among her four Group I wins.

HEAT 1 – Colts – Don Corleone - 51.19 seconds

Winner was the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Extreme Choice colt Don Corleone, who was urged along to win by half a length over Russian Revolution colt Physical Grafiti, who was ridden very quietly.
