Pedigree Watch – UK – Rising Star for Kingman

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 22

A homebred for Juddmonte, two year-old colt Nostrum might be a star next season for his sire Kingman after winning the Group III Tattersalls Stakes (7f) at Newmarket and interestingly is a half-brother to two Australian stakes-winners.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, Nostrum won easily on debut at Sandown on July and made light work of his first Black Type assignment winning by more than a length for Ryan Moore at his second start.

“It was very pleasing. I thought it was a very warm race but Nostrum did it very nicely first time and was entitled to come and run in a race like that. I was relieved and was pleased with the performance. I don't know if we will see him again this season,” said Sir Michael Stoute.

“We will take him home and chill him out and relax him and put him back in fast work. It is a difficult time of year especially for two-year-olds when the weather turns so we don't know but I would like to give him one more run.”

Nostrum holds an entry for the Group I Dewhurst Stakes next month.

The 51st stakes-winner for Kingman, Nostrum is the third stakes-winner from stakes-winning Dubai Destination mare Mirror Lake and is a half-brother to two talented performers that have made their way to Australia ion Imaging (GB), winner of the Group II ATC Ajax Stakes and Super Titus (GB) winner of the Listed MRC Heatherlie Handicap.

Kingman has one son at stud in Australia this spring and it’s his champion miler Palace Pier (GB), who shuttles to Darley at a fee of $55,000.
