Stunning times at Cambridge breeze ups ahead of Ready2Race Sale

Media Release - Friday September 23

A “running machine’’ and “the most straight forward horse ever’’ set the track alight with scintillating times during an exciting Ready2Race breeze up session at Cambridge.

In what was the final primary breeze up session ahead of the Inglis Ready2Race Sale at Riverside on Tuesday October 11, a total of 52 2YOs galloped on the Cambridge Synthetic track.

A pair of Riversley Park-offered youngsters led the way, with a Deep Field x National Anthem gelding (lot 276, pictured) and a Per Incanto x Mandalong Belle gelding (lot 246) clocking times of 10.13secs and 10.17secs respectively.

Deep Field colt from National Anthem was low flying!

“We breezed up eight on the day, we were really happy overall with how they went as a collective and how smoothly the day ran, despite it being showery and windy on the day,’’ Riversley’s Sam Beatson said.

“The Deep Field, he’s just a running machine, we knew that going into the breeze and he didn’t disappoint and the best thing is he’s got a really good brain on him, he takes everything in his stride, he didn’t even come off the bridle in the gallop so there’s plenty more to give.

“He’s a racehorse, there’s nothing surer than that. He’s a good doer, he’s fit, he’s ready to rock n roll as a pre-Christmas 2YO if that’s what someone wants, he’s just a professional.’’

On the Per Incanto gelding, Beatson added: “His pedigree suggests he should be fast and he is. He’s a really straight-forward horse, so easy to deal with, the jockey was so happy with him at the breeze ups and he’s come through it so well.’’

The third-fastest time from the Cambridge session came from Kiltannon Stables’ lot 225 – a Vancouver x Latest Plan filly – which clocked 10.31secs.

“She’s done everything right, she’s a well put together filly and is out of a Dubawi mare so she’s got a nice page and all the attributes to make a nice broodmare later on too,’’ Kiltannon’s Mark Forbes said.

“She’s always been a very professional filly who’s done everything right along the way and when buyers see her at Riverside in a couple of weeks, they’ll understand what I mean.’’

Other 2YOs to impress included the progeny of the likes of Russian Revolution, Almanzor, Starspangledbanner, The Autumn Sun, Written By and U S Navy Flag amongst others.
