Notable Fillies at MM 2YO's In Training Sale

Craig Tompson - Sunday October 23

Less than 15% of horses offered at a 2YO ready to run sale in Australasia are fillies, but there’s a couple at this week’s Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs In Training Sale which prick the ears up based on catalogue updates.

Lot 77 – Divine Prophet x Love Of Liberty is the most obvious, being a half-sister to Ellsberg.

At the time of the catalogue being released Ellsberg was a dual Group Three winner but made this half-sister a half-sister to a Group One winner when he added the Epsom Handicap to his resume earlier this month.

Offered by KBL Thoroughbreds, the filly was previously sold for $50,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and breezed in 10.83 seconds at Eagle Farm. See it here.

Lot 32 is a filly by I Am Invincible out of Defy The Odds (Galileo), already a half-sister to a Group One winner in Leicester (Wanted), winner of the South Australian Derby before heading to Hong Kong, racing as Helene Leadingstar.

Since the catalogue was released however her half-brother, Stroke Of Luck has won on debut before a fast finishing third in the Listed Dulcify Stakes (1600m) at his third start.

Bought by A List Thoroughbreds for $425,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, he looked to breeze quite comfortably in a rapid 10.69 at Eagle Farm.

Another interesting filly is Lot 9, by Star Turn from Zestily offered by Baramul, a half-sister to Lucky Gor which trialled impressively in Australia (as Kyle) before heading to Hong Kong where his first preparation was moderate but has returned in the new season with a first-up second followed by a most impressive win at Happy Valley on October 5 – see it here.

The Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs In Training Sale starts at midday (AEST) on Tuesday.
