Better than Ready's Homebred Doomben Double

Media Release - Sunday November 13

Lyndhurst Stud and Champion stallion, Better Than Ready, left their hoofprint on the Keith Noud program at Doomben on Saturday with a QTIS double via Skirt The Law and Northern Express.

Better Than Ready

Making her debut after being sold to Tony Gollan and John Foote for $170,000 at the 2022 Gold Coast Magic Millions, Skirt The Law absolutely dominated her rivals with a 3 length romp over 1050m.

The 3YO, Northern Express, meanwhile, made it 5 from 11 with his thrilling performance over 1200m.

Both were bred by, raised and offered for sale by Lyndhurst and, notably, each annexed the only two races with QTIS bonuses at Doomben.

Since winning the Keith Noud at his penultimate start in 2013 (among four stakes wins), Better Than Ready has been tremendously prolific at Lyndhurst where he stands at $24,200: particularly with precocious sprinters.

Leading Australian First Season Sire by winners in 2018/19, Better Than Ready has gone from strength to strength with over 200 winners (at a strike rate of 65%) including 10 stakes horses and $20 million plus in progeny earnings.

With 2YO stakes winners Alpine Edge, Tiger Legend, The Odyssey, Better Reflection and Jagged Edge – and with Skirt The Law likely to join them! – Better Than Ready’s standard bearing Group 1 winner, Apache Chase, also put a blinder in at Newcastle on Saturday, finishing fourth in the $1 million The Hunter.
