Raheen Stud's Heroic Valour a Highlight at NZB Ready to Run

Media Release - Saturday November 19

Highly promising Queensland stallion, Heroic Valour, has lit up the New Zealand sale ring with his colt from Magic Albert mare, Lassila knocked down to Worldwide Bloodstock for $350,000 at Karaka’s Ready To Run Sale this week.

The colt was a super successful pinhook having been sourced for $80,000 from the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale by Kiltannon Stables.

With a host of winners from his first crop in 2021/22 – including 2YO city winners Heroic Son and Mishani Persuasion – along with likely types emerging this season, the Fastnet Rock sire has been popular locally … but it comes as little surprise that he should attract a crowd from across the ditch.

After all, Heroic Valour was unbeaten as a 2YO in New Zealand, with his victories including the prestigious Group 1 Diamond Stakes and Listed Matamata Slipper. Heroic Valour was also a stakes winner at 3 and finished 3rd in the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas before being snapped up for stud duties by Raheen Stud.

Heroic Valour

“He (Heroic Valour) has had wonderful support since arriving on farm,” Raheen Stud’s Basil Nolan enthused. “In fact, he served his largest book last spring which is a pretty good indication as to how breeders perceive his progeny.

“Aside from the New Zealand result, he had a yearling sell up to $260,000 at the Gold Coast this year. They’re all excellent returns for a stallion that stands at only $11,000.”
