Australasian Action on Opening Day of Tattersalls December Mares Sale

Some solid Australasian representation on the opening day of the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, with the familiar names of Cambridge Stud, Boomer Bloodstock, Paul Moroney, Silverdale Stud, Dean Hawthorne and John Foote on the scorecard.    

Lot 1649 Silent Monarch (IRE) (No Nay Never x Causeway Queen by Giant’s Causeway) Boomer Bloodstock / Murray Thoroughbreds 170,000 guineas.

Three-year-old filly Silent Monarch has won her only two starts for George Boughey.

She backed up a two-and-a-half length romp at Beverley in August with a victory in a 7.5f novice at Chester a month later.

Silent Monarch is a half-sister to stakes-placed Surbett (Rock Of Gibraltar), and to a Saxon Warrior filly that sold for €520,000 at the 2022Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Breeze Up Sale.

Causeway Queen is a half-sister to Group III Chester dee Stakes winner and Epsom Derby third Astrology (Galileo) out of the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Ask For The Moon (Dr Fong).

Lot 1507 Darkest (IRE) (Dark Angel x Kelsey Rose by Most Welcome) Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock / Badgers Bloodstock 125,000gns.

A 325,000gns Tattersalls October Yearling, Darkest (IRE) won a maiden at Limerick and placed a further three times in a 13-start career for Aidan O’Brien.

Sold with a positive test to Starspangledbanner, Darkest (IRE) is out of a stakes-placed sister to Group II Sandown Mile winner and Group 1 Lockinge Stakes runner-up Sovereign Debt.

Lot 1512 Terra Mitica (IRE) (Ulysses x Mississippi Delta by Giant’s Causeway) Cambridge Stud / Lillingston Bloodstock 100,000gns.

Flaxman Stables Terra Mitica (IRE) made seven starts for Sir Michael Soute for two wins, two seconds and two thirds.

The daughter of Ulysses is the first foal of is the first foal out of the Grade III winner and multiple Grade II placed Giant’s Causeway mare Mississippi Delta who is out of a half-sister to Grade II winner and multiple Grade 1 placed Cowboy Cal.

Lot 1672 Sea Speedwell (GB) (Sea The Stars x Flower Market by Cadeaux Genereux) Sackville Donald for Silverdale Farm 80,000gns.

The 4yo mare Sea Speedwell has won two and placed in three of her six starts for William Haggis.

She headed to sale off the back of a four and three-quarter length win at Yarmouth on October 10.

The daughter of Sea The Stars is a half-sister to the David Hayes-trained Group 1 Australian Cup winner Spillway (Rail Link).

Lot 1494 Speak (GB) (Sea The Moon x Lixirova by Slickly) Paul Moroney Bloodstock / Catheryne Bruggeman / Perry Sambor 50,000gns.

The George Strawbridge homebred Speak (GB) won on debut at Kempton last season at two and has been runner-up at her past three starts at Goodwood (x2) and Chester for Andrew Balding.

A half-sister to four winners, Speak (GB) is a daughter of the Group III Prix Miesque winner Lixirova who has a 2021 colt by Too Darn Hot (GB) and a 2022 colt by Sea The Moon (GER).

Lot 1505 Suspicious (Nathaniel x White Cay by Dalakhani) Cambridge Stud /John Foote Bloodstock 50,000gns.

A winner at her only start last season at two, Suspicious finished third at her seasonal debut at Wolverhampton but disappointed in two subsequent runs.

White Cay is a half-sister to Group III winner Cay Dancer (Danehill Dancer) and Listed winner Dynamic (Teofilo).
