I Am a Stakes-Winner and a Course Record Holder!

Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 1

Progressive I Am Invincible mare I Am Me had a productive 2022 winning six races from a Canberra maiden in March through to a Benchmark 88 event in December and she upped the ante on New Year’s Day to claim her first Black Type victory.

The Dynamic Syndications colour bearer has been a slow burn type of horse with the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace team allowing her to find her path through the lower grades as a youngster.

Maturity has really seen her blossom in the latter part of last year and coming into the Listed ATC Canterbury Sprint (1200m) she was riding a three race winning streak.

Ridden with confidence by Andrew Adkins, I Am Me was able to do it at both ends after jumping from a wide gate and scored by more than a length in clocking a new track record for the 1200m at 1:08.45.

The previous record was set by Hoystar in 2008 running 1:09.03.

“I had to burn the candle at both ends, but I knew she’d be the best horse in the race and she was very, very strong late, so there are only bigger and better things in store for her,” said Adkins.

A $210,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Segenhoe draft for Dynamic Syndications / Dean Watt Bloodstock, I Am Me has the overall record of seven wins and two placings from 12 starts with prizemoney in excess of $449,000.

I Am Me was well bought from Inglis Premier for just $210,000!

She was bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and is the first winner from Mefnooda, a metro winning half-sister by Medaglia D’Oro (USA) to Group III winning filly One Last Dance and daughter of Group IIII winner One World.

Mefnooda was bought by Cambridge Stud at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $450,000 and was covered by Too Darn Hot (GB) last spring after missing the year before.

I Am Me is the 89th stakes-winner for Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible, who sired Imperatriz to win the Group I Sistema Railway Sprint in New Zealand earlier in the day.
