Interesting Canterbury 2YO Race Tonight

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 6

The juvenile maiden at Canterbury tonight has attracted a full field plus emergencies with some interesting runners including the first foal of Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Daysee Doom.

Retained to race by his breeder Jack Griffin, Exceed and Excel colt Fameux has been given a good grounding at the trials by Annabel Neasham and won his most recent trial beating fellow first start in this race Ravenclaw.

With four trials for experience and barrier one, Fameux should run well which would be a good update for Widden Stud, who bought his dam Daysee Doom at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale last year for $1.1million.

Daysee Doom was bought by Widden Stud / David Revers for $1.1million at the Inglis Chairman's Sale last year.

She produced a colt by Wootton Bassett (GB) in early November.

Queen of Dragons has also shown ability at the trials and the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Pierro filly is a full sister to their Group II winner Paris Dior, who was a very sharp juvenile that won her first race at this equivalent meeting last year.

A homebred for the Ingham family, Churchill (IRE) filly Cigar Flick looked to have her share of ability at her only trial and the Chris Waller trained filly is from a half-sister to one of the stable stars in Fangirl.

The race jumps at 6.30pm.
