Magic Millions 2YO Classic Features Yarraman Park Sold Trio

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 12

The $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic this Saturday features a full field with emergencies and Yarraman Park are super proud to have produced three runners this year with Godfather (I Am Invincible), Infatuation (I Am Invincible) and Fire Lane (Hellbent) all earning their place with brilliant wins over the summer.

Yarraman Park sold 32 yearlings at the sale last year at an average $383,438 with Godfather the most expensive at $1.1million having been bought by James Harron for his colts partnership.

Godfather was a $1.1million purchase last year.

A full brother to Group III winning juvenile I Am Immortal and three-quarter brother-in-blood to smart stakes-winner Whypeeo, Godfather is already a stakes-winner having been sent to Brisbane by Peter and Paul Snowden to win the Listed BRC Phelan Ready Stakes on debut.

“He was a very clean athletic colt that always looked a runner and is doing everything you would hope,” said Harry Mitchell.

“Barrier 20 is no help, but I remember Houtzen jumped from 20 when she won, so they can do it from out there, although she was a brilliantly fast front runner and this colt is probably not that sort of horse.”

Infatuation was a $400,000 purchase for MyRacehorse/Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd and comes into the race off a last start win at Randwick with a close second in the $1million ATC Golden Gift a good indication as to her class.

“She was a neat middle market sort of I Am Invincible filly and she’s done a fantastic job for her owners,” Mitchell noted.

“The only thing she hasn’t done is get Black Type, but her trainer tells me she’s flying so that will come in time if not on Saturday.”

Fire Lane was a $330,000 purchase for BK Racing & Breeding/Brad Widdup Racing and also comes in as a last start Randwick winner having beaten Platinum Jubilee, Empire of Japan and Godfather in a mini dress rehearsal for the Magic Millions on Christmas Eve.

“Beautiful filly that should be just about unbeaten,” Mitchell pointed out.

“She had no luck at Gosford and got tucked away on the fence when fourth to Sovereign Fund, then came out and beat the big guns. She’s going to need to get back and get some cover from the gate, but could easily finish over the top of them.”

Yarraman Park have tasted success as a vendor in the race previously with I Am Invincible filly Houtzen, who was sold for a modest $105,000 out of Book 2 in 2016 and won the race in 2017 before going to post multiple Group wins earning over $2million in prizemoney.

King of Sparta won the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas last year.

They also bred, sold and share in the ownership of in I Am Invincible gelding King of Sparta, who won the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas last year and returns to the Gold Coast on Saturday for a tilt at the $1million Magic Millions Sprint (1200m).

Yarraman Park still have 15 yearlings to be offered at this year’s sale having already sold 10 with the I Am Invincible colt from stakes-winning Choisir mare Rose of Choice the top seller so far purchased by China Horse Club/Newgate/Go/Trilogy for $800,000.

Bred on the same cross as G1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner In Secret.
