Another Sweet $1.1m Million Sale for Silverdale

Young Group II winning Bel Esprit mare Sweet Sherry is shaping as an exceptional producer for Silverdale Farm with her first living foal, a Snitzel filly, selling for $1.35million at this sale last year and her second making $1.1million earlier today.

The Exceed and Excel filly is pretty as a picture and was knocked down to Kia Ora Stud Pty Ltd/TFI, who have been purchasing some lovely horses at this sale.

“Absolutely queen of the fillies. Exceed And Excel fillies are getting more and more precious to have as he’s getting on in age and their record this year has been exceptional. She was an amazing type,” said Shane Wright of Kia Ora.

“We were actually underbidder on the Snitzel filly last year so very happy to get this one.

“She looks sharp. Probably sharper than the Snitzel one last year, perhaps. So we do think she’ll go as a two-year-old.”

The filly from last year was bought by Badgers Bloodstock/Glentree Thoroughbreds and has been named Madeira. She has been given to Ciaron Maher and David Eustace to train, but is currently spelling.

Sweet Sherry produced a colt by I Am Invincible last spring and then went back to visit Snitzel.
