Lyndhurst Stud Announce 2023 Fees

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 28

Leading Queensland nursery Lyndhurst Stud will stand three stallions this spring with Better Than Ready topping the roster at a fee of $27,500 inc. GST.

Better Than Ready stands at a fee of $27,500.

Better Than Ready has earned a slight fee increase up from $24,200 last year when he covered 146 mares with his achievements this season more than warranting the rise.

He is enjoying his best ever season with 115 winners putting him in sixth place on the Australian General Sires List by winners.

Those winners include three stakes-winners headed by his brilliant Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Skirt the Law, who is one of 11 2YO winners for him this season putting him in equal second place behind only Russian Revolution in the category of leading sire by juvenile winners and fourth by earnings behind Snitzel, Exceed and Excel and I Am Invincible.

“His current season juveniles are the first bred from a higher fee and they promise to take Better Than Ready to a new level as their careers unfold,” said Jeff Kruger.

“Better than Ready is already a G1 producing sire and his first four seasons at stud were all at a fee of $9,900, so we have justified high hopes that his success so far is only a taste of what is to come.”

Yearling buyers obviously agree with some 61 yearlings this year averaging over $84,000, while his eight yearlings in Magic Millions Book 1 averaged $197,500 highlighted by a new benchmark set by his colt from Secret Indulgence that sold for $530,000 to China Horse Club/Newgate/Go/Trilogy.

This Better Than Ready colt sold for $530,000 at Magic Millions this year.

I Am Invincible stallion Barbaric remains at a fee of $8,800 for his second season and the Group III winning juvenile will have his first foals on the ground this spring.

He was well received covering over 80 mares and there are breeding rights still available in this good-looking son of the reigning champion sire.

Rothesay is a proven son of Fastnet Rock and as the sire of Group I Rothfire is great value at $4,950.
