$1.35 Million for Dosh Gets Ball Rolling at Inglis Chairman’s Sale

Tara Madgwick - Thursday May 4

A dual Group III winning mare by Woodside Park’s value sire Rich Enuff, Dosh was the first broodmare to sell for seven figures at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale on Thursday afternoon when fetching $1.35million.

Dosh sold for $1.35million

Consigned by Widden Stud on behalf of her owners headed by her trainer Grahame Begg, Dosh attracted keen bidding before being knocked down to Widden Stud’s Antony Thompson with a positive test to champion sire Exceed and Excel in her first season at stud.

Dosh was originally a $155,000 Inglis Classic purchase and went on to win over $300,000 on the track with her feature wins coming in the Group III VRC Ottawa Stakes and MRC Blue Diamond Preview.

She comes from the family of Golden Slipper winners Capitalist and Merlene and it’s tough not to think she’ll be likely to produce precocious juveniles in the future.

Widden Stud have had phenomenal success breeding with blue hen Solar Charged, who has a very similar profile to Dosh as a fast Group III winning juvenile by an outcross sire.
