More Prophets Celebrates Return to the Track

Mark Smith - Saturday May 13

The Smart Missile mare More Prophets did not fancy becoming a mum and returned to training after missing to Pierro last spring. She celebrated with a dominant win in the Group III Emirates Park Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone on Saturday.

Ridden by Reece Jones for John Thompson, More Prophets came with a rattling run down the centre of the track to defeat Bring The Ransom (Sebring) by one and a quarter lengths, with Short Shorts (Iffraaj) a neck back in third.

The winner of the Listed Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong in 2021, More Prophets advances her record to six wins, three seconds, and four thirds from 30 starts with earnings of $483,430

"She was tardy away and was back further than we would have liked," Jones said.

"With a patient ride, we snuck up underneath them, and with a bit of open room, she was too good for them.

"She is lovely – does everything you want her to. She has a good turn of foot and accelerated straight away, which surprised me. I had to ski[p over a few heals to get clear running. She has been great this prep with little luck."

A homebred for Bell River Thoroughbreds and the Hongo family, More Prophets was passed in when bidding fell short of her $100,000 reserve when consigned by Yarraman Park Stud to the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to Bell Rivers Group II MRC Rubiton Stakes winner Prophet's Thumb, More Prophets is one of four winners from as many to race for the Melbourne winner Set To Skelter.

A daughter of Reset, Set To Skelter is a sister to Listed Bagot Stakes winner Module out of Listed AJC Breeders' Classic winner Miss Helterskelter (Brocco).

Set To Skelter has a yearling filly by Brazen Beau and a weanling filly by Bivouac. She was covered by Farnan last spring.

More Prophets is one of 23 stakes-winners for Twin Hills Stud's prolific winner-getter Smart Missile.
