More Winners for Blue Point

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 14

A multiple G1 Royal Ascot hero, Darley shuttler Blue Point (IRE) has made a fast start to his stud career in the Northern Hemisphere siring his 11th winner from 40 runners overnight in the UK, but interestingly for all that he’s not the current leading first season sire for the UK and Ireland.

Blue Point had the quinella in the juvenile maiden at Ayr over 6f with two year-old colt Dark Points scoring by more than a length at his third start over Indivar, who made a promising debut for second.

The first Australian bred yearlings by Blue Point were very well received here this year selling for up to $900,000 and the precocity they have shown in the Northern Hemisphere will have many Aussie trainers keen to test their youngsters come the spring.

The stallion that is leading the first season sires table for the UK and Ireland with 12 winners from 41 runners including two stakes-placed horses is Soldier’s Call, a brilliantly fast Group II winning son of Showcasing that stands at Ballyhane Stud at a fee of 7,500 euros.
