Superstars at the Randwick Trials

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 15

Busy set of trials on Thursday morning with a big bearing on autumn feature races so let’s have a look at what unfolded – were you happy with your favourite?

The obvious G1 winners all good here, Sir Delius keen to make up for lost time in the spring, could have gone another lap! Autumn Glow in second gear and Apocalyptic ready to pick up where she left off.

Let’s hope Wodeton picks up better than where he left off.

Interesting horses here and four year-old I Am Invincible stallion Enriched having his second trial this prep as he looks to get back to racing after a long lay off having last been seen winning the G2 Arrowfield Stud Sprint last April.

He ticks plenty of boxes as stallion prospect, but some G1 form would be a high priority if he’s to elevate beyond a middle of the road candidate.

2YO Incognito went OK, but looked a baby against these big guns and one horse looking to get back on track is Lady Shenandoah, whose program in the spring made it an uphill battle from the get go.

Unbeaten at three, she is winless at four, but that could change quickly.

Cox Plate queen Via Sistina (IRE) out to stretch the legs, while Aeliana another star mare that was winless in the spring and looking to find form. She does look to have come back physically better as she always seemed to be a bit off in the spring and doesn’t need to find much improvement for her star to soar.

Napoleonic - is he a good-looking pretender or a leading man? - image Grant Courtney

Golden Slipper winner Marhoona looked sharp and Napoleonic is an untapped Wootton Bassett (GB) colt that ended his spring on a high in easier grade, so might be ready to take that quantum leap to G1.
