One to Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 15

Currently in the news for siring this year’s Epsom Derby winner Auguste Rodin, the late champion Japanese sire Deep Impact had seven foals born in Australia in 2019 that are now three year-olds and six of them have raced and all have won with one of them our One to Watch on Thursday.

Now trained by Peter and Paul Snowden after having three starts last season for Lee Freedman, Bokuden won at his first outing for his new trainers at Kembla last month and made it back to back wins with a late closing victory at Wyong over 1350m.

A $350,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Nxt Level Syndications from the Segenhoe Stud draft, Bokuden has two wins and a second from five starts and could easily make swift progress through the grades over winter.

Bokuden was a $350,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Segenhoe.

Bred by Go Bloodstock, Bokuden is the first foal of stakes-placed King Kamehameha mare Admire Pink (Jpn), a daughter of South American Group I winner Studentessa.

Deep Impact has had six Australian bred three year-olds to run this season and all are now winners headed by stakes-winner As Time Goes By, Group III placed Muramasa, smart metro winner Ghaanati, provincial winner Jolted and of course City of Lights, the half-sister to Winx.
