One to Watch – Gosford

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 22

I Am Invincible has had a late season flurry of promising two year-old winners with Victorian rider John Allen making a special trip to Gosford on Thursday to partner a lovely filly for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Estriella had looked good in two recent trials and ran up to that form to forge clear of race favourite Sicilian, a stakes-placed daughter of I Am Invincible. She was strong to the line to win the 1100m maiden by a length and a half.

A $750,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Estriella runs for stable client clients Mr and Mrs Kevin Payne.

“She’s a filly the team have a big opinion of so I wash happy to come up and ride her,” said John Allen.

“Once she got around the corner and got that gap she picked up really well. She still got a bit lost when she was in front and had a good look around so there is plenty of improvement there.”

Estriella was a $750,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Arrowfield.

Estriella is the first winner for Madrigals, a full sister to Golden Slipper winner and Champion 2YO Colt Pierro and half-sister to Group II winner Ambience.

Estriella is the 14th Australian two year-old winner this season for I Am Invincible.
