She’s Pretty Good!

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 2

Well named So You Think mare Howgoodareyou took another step forward with her first metro win at Randwick on Wednesday to become the first winner of the new season for outstanding sire So You Think, who finished runner-up for the second year in row on the Australian General Sires List by earnings to Champion Australian Sire I Am Invincible.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Howgoodareyou was brilliant in winning on debut last month at Hawkesbury and was then a close second in a Saturday Benchmark 72 race.

Taken to the front by Adam Hyeronimus, she was strong to the line taking the Benchmark 72 event for fillies and mares over 1550m by half a length.

“There was plenty of merit to that win as she’s a lightly raced filly that continues to improve,” said Adrian Bott.

“The writing was on the wall last start when she took significant improvement into that grade and we’ll try to keep building that confidence with her and take her through her grades.”

A $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase for G Waterhouse / A Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds from the Kitchwin Hills draft, Howgoodareyou has a big ownership group headed by Bangaloe Stud’s Julia Ritchie.

She is the first winner for Group III winning Anacheeva mare Ana Royale, who traces back to Group II winning blue hen Twiglet, the dam of Group I winners Fairy King Prawn, Easy Rocking and the dam of dual Group I winner Cosmic Endeavour.

So You Think sired 131 winners of $18.9 million last season including 11 stakes-winners highlighted by two Group I winning sprinters in Think About It and Palaisipan.
