THURSDAY UPDATE - 2017 Caulfield Cup market moves

Brad Waters - Thursday October 19

Punters have turned to the favourite Johannes Vermeer while the stewards' uncertainty surrounding the fitness of Bonneval has led to the Kiwi mare drifting in the latest Caulfield Cup betting.

Plenty of cash is flying around from punters wanting to back Johannes Vermeer.

Johannes Vermeer was as long as $5.50 after drawing gate two at the Caulfield Cup barrier draw on Tuesday but money for the Aidan O'Brien-trained galloper pushed his quote in as short as $4.20.

Racing Victoria vets will inspect Bonneval late on Thursday afternoon and will continue to monitor the Underwood Stakes winner's fitness but punters have stopped supporting the mare, prompting bookies to ease her price to as high as $9.50.

Topweight Humidor is another drifter with Ladbrokes and Sportsbet easing his quote from $6 to $8 while Bet365 and Unibet have pushed him out to $9.

Harlem has had support with a couple of bookies, firming from $11 into $9.50 at Ladbrokes and $11 into $10,

Below is a comparison of the latest markets on the Caufield Cup as of Thursday afternoon.
