One to Watch – Hamilton

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 18

Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman have no shortage of blueblood I Am Invincible fillies in their stable and they produced another smart winner for the champion sire at Hamilton on Monday.

Moesha was second on debut at Pakenham last month and was sent out a short priced favourite for the 1100m maiden and cruised to an easy two length victory for Billy Egan.

“It was pretty painless, she’s a nice filly,” said Peter Moody.

“I didn’t expect we’d be coming to Hamilton to win our maiden, with no disrespect at all, but we just kept drawing bad barriers as you saw today, seven of seven and three deep the trip, but she’s got a lot better wins in store.

“She’s still got to furnish and develop. We’ll try and find a little race in town in the next two or three weeks and then with the spring on her back she’ll be a stakes class filly in the autumn.”

Moesha was a $650,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

Moesha was a $650,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Evergreen Stud draft for Rosemont Stud / David Redvers Bloodstock and is a half-sister to Group winners Thewizardofoz and Argentia being the eighth winner from nine foals to race from Champion NZ 3YO Filly and four time Group I winner Princess Coup.

Princess Coup had a colt by Snitzel last spring and is in foal to Exceed and Excel, while her two year-old Dundeel colt made $400,000 at Inglis Easter when bought by Rosemont Alliance / Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) / Moody Racing. He has been named Hawkins and is also in work with Moody and Coleman.
