Flemington Victory for $1.4million I Am Invincible Mare

Tara Madgwick - Sunday September 24

Bryce Heys has been super patient with talented I Am Invincible mare Dancing Alone, who bounced back from her first defeat last start to win at Flemington on Sunday.

An easy winner at country and provincial races at her first four starts, Dancing Alone came unstuck when a luckless sixth in a Benchmark 78 event at Randwick, but made amends with this stylish victory travelling strongly up the outside of the course for Blake Shinn to win by three-quarters of a length.

Heys was delighted to see his expensive mare back on track with five wins now from six starts and the promise of more wins to come.

“We’ll take it one run at a time, but we’re down here for a reason and she ticked that box today,” Heys said.

“It was encouraging, because last start was an absolute horror show from barrier one which was always a chance of happening when you’re getting carved across, but the manner in which she won today running out the 1100m strongly was encouraging.”

Dancing Alone was purchased by Heys’s Ellerslie Lodge for $1.4million at the 2021 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale from the Vinery Stud draft and races in the colours of Michael O’Keefe and Veronica King.

She is the first foal of Group II placed Snitzel mare Miles Of Krishan, a half-sister to the Champion NZ 2YO Il Quello Velove. It’s the family of Group I winning sprinters Terravista and Tiger Tees as well as Group II winning $1.8million earner Ball Of Muscle and Singapore Horse of the Year Super Easy.

The second foal from Miles Of Krishan is a Zoustar colt that sold for $700,000 at Inglis Easter this year to Yulong and has been fittingly named Growing Empire.

Miles of Krishan has a yearling filly to follow by I Am Invincible and is now in foal to Zoustar.
