Exceed And Excel Filly Impresses on Debut

Mark Smith - Friday October 27

Godolphin's royally-bred Exceed And Excel filly Elessedil made a huge impression at her career debut over 1100 metres at Canterbury on Friday.

The James Cummings-trained filly was among the best to begin for Tye Angland, who eased the 2yo filly across to sit outside Glamour Cruise.

Those two settled down to fight the finish out. After a short, sharp battle, Elessedil drew away in the final 100 metres to win by three and a half-lengths from Glamour Cruise (Smart Missile) with odds-on favourite Sangita (Sebring) two lengths back in third.

Elessedil is the second foal of the Octagonal mare Shannara a dual Listed stakes-winning sister to 11-time Group 1 winner Lonhro and triple Group 1 winner Niello.

Shannara has been a regular visitor to Exceed And Excel. She has been covered by the champion son of Danehill in her first four seasons at stud.

Three weeks back she foaled a chestnut colt.
