Keshi Boom Captures WA Champion Fillies Stakes

Mark Smith - Sunday November 19

The Spirit Of Boom filly Keshi Boom quelled any fears she might not run out a strong 1600m when she motored home in the Group III Lexus of Perth - WA Champion Fillies Stakes at Ascot on Saturday and take her record to a perfect four for four.

A fifth winner of the race for Willie Pike, the Grant and Alana Williams-trained filly swept down the middle of the track to defeat the Awesome Rock filly Miss Rockjoy by one and a half lengths with the well-supported Divine Prophet filly Generosity a length back in third.

Coming off a win in the Listed Burgess Queen Stakes, Keshi Boom has banked $267,150 from her four wins.

“She is among the first we’ve had since rebuilding the stable and it just blows us away,” Grant Williams said.

uo;There is emotion in our wins now, whereas before it was just business, we were a bit numb to it.

“To see how much this means to them, as it does to us, who do it 24/7, it’s incredible to see how happy a horse can make to so many people.

“We will seriously think about the Guineas next week. E will have a chat to Willie. Alana is keen to go to 1800m, but I would favour giving her a week at the beach and go for the Guineas.”

Bred by Eureka Thoroughbreds, Peter Mahony, Brian Mahony, and Rex Lipp, Keshi Boom was a $120,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale purchase for Williams Racing from the Eureka Stud draft.

The 3-year-old Spirit Of Boom filly is a three-quarter sister to Group II winner Prince of Boom and stakes-winner Simply Fly, being the best of three winners from as many to race for Pearls for Me, a winning half-sister by Red Dazzler to Group II winner Express Air.

Pearls For Me has had a torrid time of late with her 2021 and 2022 foals dying after birth, and she missed to Dubious last spring.
