Dam of Encap Offered in Standalone Inglis Digital Sale

Media Release - Thursday November 23

Top-class proven producer Enquare – the dam of G3 Ming Dynasty winner and G1 Golden Rose runner up Encap – will be offered in a standalone Inglis Digital sale early next week.

Encap (Capitalist) has proven himself one of the leading 3YOs of his crop this spring, with each his starts to date coming before his third birthday, given his October 29th foaling date.

A $200,000 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale purchase for his trainer Gary Portelli, Encap defeated the likes of spring star and G1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Tom Kitten when scoring a dominant victory in the G3 Ming Dynasty in September.

He then stepped up to G1 company in the stallion-making Golden Rose, finishing the narrowest of seconds to star 3YO Militarize and defeating the likes of Golden Slipper quinella Shinzo and Cylinder as well as fellow G1 winner King Colorado, dual G1 placed colt Don Corleone and Stakes winners including Charm Stone and Nadal.

13YO mare Enquare is being offered carrying an early pregnancy to Capitalist, making the resultant foal a full sibling to Encap.

In 7 career starts, Encap has run to a career peak Timeform rating of 115, equal to the 3YO ratings of the likes of I Am Unstoppable and Shinzo and ahead of the likes of King’s Gambit, Riff Rocket, Tiz Invincible, Veight etc.

He is also achieved a rating of 99.5 on Daniel O’Sullivan’s TRB ratings, seeing him sit in the top-10 3YOs of his crop.

Portelli described Encap as being in the “top echelon of three-year-olds’’.

“He was a speedy type early on and trained into a beautiful horse. He’s a horse that raced at two, was a great horse – almost a champion at three – and we’re hoping he can build on his Group 1 performances next campaign,’’ the trainer said.

“If you look closely at the form of the Golden Rose, Shinzo – who ran third in the Coolmore Stud Stakes and won the Golden Slipper, was behind him, couldn’t keep up with us, the form behind us was very strong.

“As far as improvement goes, I’ve never seen a horse improve like this horse. I don’t know where his ceiling is, I think he’s in for a massive autumn carnival.

“He’s sound, has plenty of longevity and is a beautifully natured horse and I’m sure there’s plenty of upside to this pedigree going forward.’’

Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth added: “Mares of this quality carrying siblings to genuine G1 performers like Encap very rarely come onto the market.

“A purchase of a mare like this, given her age, has the capacity to serve a number of purposes to a buyer and the scope for upside is significant.

“Enquare was a very good racemare in her own right, she was very quick and her form was strong.

“She has had three runners to date for three winners, including Encap, she has a full brother 2YO to Encap in training with Waterhouse/Bott and is carrying another full sibling to Encap so the family is only going to get stronger and stronger,” said Melmeth.

The Enquare Standalone Sale will go live on inglisdigital.com tomorrow afternoon.

Bidding will open at 9am Monday (November 27) and the final countdown of bidding will begin from 4pm on Tuesday (November 28).
