Leading Sires by Australian Stakes-Winners

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 28

The vast prizemoney on offer during spring the spring carnivals in Sydney and Melbourne can skew the leading sire lists by earnings, so we’ve taken a look at the leading sires by stakes-winners although even that measure of success can now be taken with a grain of salt given the lack of Black Type on a couple of the best races in the country, while some traditional Black Type races have been significantly weakened.

I Am Invincible stands at a fee of $302,500 for good reason.

Whatever way you look at it I Am Invincible is the best stallion in the country with his nine stakes-winners headed by his champion sprinting mare Imperatriz, while Zoustar has also had a memorable spring with a pair of Group I winning three year-olds in Ozzmosis and Joliestar.

Playing God is playing with the big boys and stands at a fee of $33,000.

WA based Playing God had a massive day at Ascot last Saturday with his star on the rise and yearling buyers will no doubt be looking hard at the 2024 Magic Millions Perth Yearling catalogue when that gets released as it will be the only place to purchase his stock.

Pride of Dubai continues to deliver and while a lot of the sires on this list are seriously expensive, he’s not. Standing at a fee of $27,500, Pride of Dubai might be what you are looking for in a late season cover and a real shot at breeding a SW.

Harry Angel (IRE) is the youngest sire on the list and while he was a sprinter, his best horse is Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) winner Tom Kitten.
