Gosford Guineas Goal for Hellbent 3YO

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 16

Hellbent has had a great year with a slew of winners including his first Group I winner Magic Time and progressive three year-old Boston Rocks might be a stakes-winner of the future judging by his strong return at Randwick on Saturday.

Trained by Nathan Doyle, Boston Rocks looked a promising horse last preparation winning two of three starts and returned in great shape for the Benchmark 72 event over 1100m. He pounced late for Tim Clark to overhaul quality I Am Invincible filly Infatuation to win by half a length.

uo;It was a good win, he travelled up to them like he always had them covered, but he’d only had one trial going in and if he’d had that second trial there would have been a bit more of a ping,” said Doyle.

“He’s a nice horse and we might head to the Gosford Guineas with him now. He loves Gosford and he get’s around there well, he jumps and puts himself there on speed and that’s a good asset to have.

“It’s good for the Kurrinda Bloodstock guys, they got some nice two year-olds coming through the system with us and this horse was the first we were given and he’s building a pretty handy record as he’s three from four with us and I think there is more to come.”

Boston Rocks was the third highest priced yearling at Inglis Scone HTBA Yearling Sale.

A $100,000 Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale purchase from the draft of Segenhoe for Kurrinda Bloodstock / Singleton Racing, Boston Rocks was the third highest priced yearling at that sale and has already won three of five starst earning nearly $170,000 in prizemoney.

Bred by Segenhoe, he is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Spurs and Sashes, a winning half-sister by Flying Spur to Group winners Sabatini and Vivi Veloce.

Hellbent has 21 entries for Magic Millions.
