Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 11

There were four heats for two year-olds on Thursday morning at Rosehill with some interesting unraced winners and some even more interesting place-getters with two heat winners by I Am Invincible, one by Justify (USA) and one for first season sire Dubious that was his highest priced yearling in 2023.

A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase from Noralla Stud for Justin Fung/Aquis Stallions Pty Ltd/Annabel Neasham Racing, the Annabel Neasham trained Dubious colt Deputize is improving with experience and was having his third trial and second this prep. He led for home and kept going to win by a couple of lengths with $1.5million Snitzel colt Switzerland working home nicely for third in his second trial.

Noralla Stud sold the yearling half-brother to Deputize at Magic Millions on Wednesday for $200,000 to New Zealand based Woburn Farm.

Also trained by Annabel Neasham, I Am Invincible colt Innervisions looks ready to go racing following this sharp performance to lead and kick away to win by three lengths, also keep an eye on Godolphin blueblood colt Caravanserai, a half-brother by Blue Point (IRE) to G1 winners Alizee and Astern as well as boom young sire Tassort.

Bred to get going early, Innervisions was a $700,000 Magic Millions purchase from Kia Ora Stud for TFI/Annabel Neasham Racing/Dermot Farrington Bloodstock and is from stakes-winning Snitzel mare Modern Wonder, a full sister to Champion 2YO Filly and multiple Group winner Away Game, a winner of $3.7million.

Another I Am Invincible also trained by Annabel Neasham, two year-old filly Bella Corazon improved at her second trial and when asked to finish off did a good job to win by half a length. King’s Gambit’s half-sister Humid (by Snitzel) showed plenty of natural pace early and was given a quiet time late for fifth at her first outing.

A $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Yarraman Park, Bella Corazon is the first Australian foal from Pierro blueblood mare Notting Hill, who comes from the Monsoon Wedding branch  of the Shantha’s Choice family.

There was one heat run over the slightly longer 1030m trip with the winner Justify (USA) gelding Okami Star scoring narrowly over a couple of very interesting colts in Bosustow, the half-brother to Amelia’s Jewel and Railway Man, a $2.5million Magic Millions purchase last year and the first foal of Group I winner Booker.

Right behind the first three were Whiskey, most expensive yearling ($530,000) by Better Than Ready and Coast Guard, most expensive yearling ($750,000) from first crop of Microphone.
