Widden First Season Sires off the Mark

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 17

The 2024 Magic Millions Yearling Sale was a busy one for Widden Stud selling 65 yearlings across Books 1 and 2 for $14.6million and particularly pleasing was the warm reception afforded their first season sires Anders, Russian Camelot (IRE), Dirty Work and Doubtland.

Anders

A super fast Group winning son of Not a Single Doubt, Anders had good numbers at Magic Millions with many of his stock very much stamped in his image and nine were sold in Book 1 at an average of $210,000 which was 12.7 times his 2021 service fee of $16,500.

$300,000 Anders colt from En Aval is just like his sire!

His top sellers were the Little Avondale Stud consigned filly from Candy Bar that made $330,000 to the bid of Star Thoroughbreds / Randwick Bloodstock and the Widden consigned colt from En Aval that was bred by Widden’s Yearling Manager Liam Attwood and sold for $300,000, read about him here.

Anders had 11 yearlings sell for $100,000 or more and for his admirers there will be 20 at Inglis Classic and 10 at Inglis Premier.

Russian Camelot (IRE) is a dual G1 winning son of Camelot.

Widden Stud have stepped outside the speed square in standing Russian Camelot (IRE), a dual G1 winning son of staying sire Camelot and he had two yearlings at the sale, fillies from Dinkum Diamond and Insensata that sold for $220,000 and $200,000.
