Aquis Farm Kicks Off MM Season with Ladies Raceday

Media Release - Saturday January 6
Leading racing and breeding outfit Aquis Farm has kicked off its busiest year yet; swinging open the doors for inspections of its largest Magic Millions draft ahead of the inaugural Aquis Farm Ladies Race Day to be held at the Aquis Park Gold Coast Turf Club today.

The race day sponsorship and expanded Magic Millions draft is is another major step in Aquis Farm's goal to grow the breeding and racing industry in Queensland and support Queensland owners, breeders and trainers.

This year Aquis Farm will expand on its existing offering of world class stallions and impressive broodmare band (of which their offspring will go to public sale) and also offer diverse partnership opportunities, extended payment terms and strategic participation in various race clubs and events.

Aquis Farm Ladies Race Day kicks off the biggest event on the sale calendar - the Magic Millions January Sale - and connects breeders and other industry participants in a magical summer session.

Aquis Farm CEO Shane McGrath said: "The sponsorship of the Aquis Farm Ladies Race Day coincides with the offering of Aquis' draft in the Gold Coast's Magic Millions Yearling Sale and aims to further strengthen our ties between breeding and racing."

In 2017, Aquis Farm expanded its presence to the New South Wales breeding regions via Aquis Farm at Murrurundi in the Hunter Valley.

"This year our yearlings to be offered through Magic Millions have been prepared in the Hunter Valley at our Murrurundi Farm, as we aim to synchronise the management of our two farms to produce a superior product for our clients and partnerships," Mr McGrath said.

Sold by Aquis Farm in 2017Mr McGrath said the Farm would be looking to build on its 2017 success where it achieved a 100% clearance in Book One, selling 17 yearlings for $3.4 million, including a Medaglia D'Oro (USA) colt from Sangfroid that sold under the hammer for $1 million.

This year's Aquis Farm Magic Millions draft includes 25 yearlings by a wide variety of leading sires and first season favourites such as Deep Field, Dissident and Rubick.

Mr McGrath said the draft provided a good mix of high-quality yearlings with plenty of future winners.

"Given the strength of the industry globally, prize money increases and new investors locally, the supply and demand trends of late should see another record sales session at Magic Millions 2018."
