First Southern Hemisphere Foal for Diatonic

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 5

It’s going to be a busy and exciting foaling season at Yulong and one of the early arrivals is an interesting baby whose dam is a half-sister to the dam of this year’s Group I Irish Derby winner Los Angeles.

Diatonic (Jpn) colt from blue blood Galileo mare Mawajib (IRE).

Born last Saturday is this colt by Diatonic (Jpn) from Mawahib (IRE), a placed Galileo mare that is also a three-quarter sister to Group III winner Impulsif and traces in tail female line to legendary Arc winning blue hen Urban Sea.

A multiple Group winning sprinter in Japan by Lord Kanaloa, Diatonic arrived at Yulong at the start of 2023 and covered 32 mares straight away to Northern Hemisphere time that resulted in 19 foals born earlier this year.

He then covered 131 to Southern Hemisphere time at a fee of $13,750 and remains at that fee this year.
