$1.53 Million Showjumping and Polo Add to the Magic Millions Carnival

Media Release - Tuesday December 17

Magic Millions confirmed the much-anticipated line-up of teams and competitors across the entertainment-packed Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo & Showjumping on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Doug Jennings Park on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Magic Millions co-owner, Katie Page congratulated the competitors across the three showjumping events and welcomed the return of our Polo stars headlined by Nacho Figueras with Zara Tindall, Billy Slater and Delfi Blaquier all playing to win.

Peter McMahon won the Magic Millions Off the Track Cup in 2024.

“The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be spectacular and every year the Magic Millions Showjumping gives us all a sneak preview of the brilliance that awaits us. Our Seniors’ teams include some of Australia’s best showjumpers and our Juniors are super competitive and will be making their mark on our Olympic teams in the years to come. Our Showjumping classes are a chance for them to compete in front of a crowd of thousands.

“Magic Millions is a family business. We teamed up with Coolmore’s Tom and Sophie Magnier and The Huddy’s Peachester Lodge to deliver prizemoney that is deliberately bold. The prizemoney pool for the Seniors’ teams is Australia’s largest prizemoney in Showjumping with $1.45 million on offer. The Juniors (under 18) compete for $10,000 in prizemoney, attracting the top young riders Australia-wide to showcase national talent in a world-class competition setting. These are our family businesses working together with Brisbane 2032 as our horizon.

“We want our top showjumping athletes competing in Australia, training in Australia and breeding their competition horses in Australia. This can only happen if our athletes can build their competitive careers here.

“We are calling on all states and territories to consider how they can create equine sport and para-sport pathway events to ensure our Olympic and Paralympic teams can field teams of excellence.

“The Magic Millions Queensland Off-The-Track Cup is a pathway event of a different kind. This is an event that showcases the jumping talent of retrained racehorses and their riders who have lovingly and skillfully taken racehorses off-the-track and trained them for the sport of showjumping. Together with Racing Queensland’s Off-The-Track Program, we are recognising the combined talents of these OTT’s and riders with this year’s prizemoney pool of $75,000.

“Our first Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo was hosted in 2017 and almost every year since you know the exact moment in the afternoon when Team Nacho for Pacific Fair and Team Zara for The Star Gold Coast take to the field. The entire crowd lines every inch of the fence to see who takes home this year’s trophy. It is “gloves off” and game on.

Polo Matches

“This year’s field of competitors are our best yet, congratulations to all the horse and riders and good luck on Sunday, January 5.”

Kate Halpin, Pacific Fair Senior Marketing Manager, “Nothing kicks off the New Year quite like the Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo and Showjumping. Pacific Fair has been involved since day one and we love watching it grow year-on-year. It’s an incredible day of entertainment, world-class Polo and Showjumping in such a stunning setting. The blend of adrenaline sports and the beautiful fashion moment is one-of-a-kind, and something that our Australian designers and customers are thrilled to be a part of each year.”

MAGIC MILLIONS QUEENSLAND OFF-THE-TRACK CUP (QOTT)
The Magic Millions Queensland Off-the-Track Cup added a Victorian qualifier for the first time in 2024. From the three qualifiers, over 60 entrants competed for 10 finalist positions from Qld, 4 from NSW and 4 from Victoria. These 18 finalists will compete for an increased prizemoney pool of $75,000.

RQ Senior Animal Care Manager Kim Duffy said she was excited to see the return of the QOTT Cup Final at the Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo and Showjumping.

“The QOTT Program is incredibly proud to partner with Magic Millions to present the QOTT Cup Final. This year marks the second running of this exceptional event, which continues to showcase the versatility, athleticism, and adaptability of retired racehorses,” she said.

“Driving demand for retired racehorses in alternative careers in their post-racing lives is a key principle underpinning the QOTT Program, with premium event partnerships like Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo and Showjumping complimenting the support available for all disciplines and levels of competition through the QOTT Event Sponsorship Program.

“Over the past three years, the QOTT Program has launched nine major initiatives to support racehorse aftercare in Queensland. The QOTT Cup Final is a proud showcase of the QOTT Program and our commitment to supporting the equestrian community, who play a major role in caring for retired racehorses for the duration of their post-racing lives.”
