$550,000 for First Two Home Affairs Yearlings to Sell at MM

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 7

A dual Group I winning son of champion sire I Am Invincible, Coolmore based Home Affairs is the most represented sire at Magic Millions this year and the first of his yearlings was offered as Lot 10 and got the sale off to a good start when selling for $550,000 to the newly former partnership James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership/Tony Fung Colts.

The first of the Home Affairs yearlings sells for $550,000.

Consigned by Lime Country Thoroughbreds, the colt is the third foal of well bred import Tell Your Mama (USA), a winning mare by renowned broodmare sire Blame, sire of the dam of Group I winner Switzerland, from stakes-winner Taletobetold.

For breeders that subscribe to line breeding to superior females, this colt fits the bill as his third dam Exigent is also the third dam of Home Affairs, with this female family tracing to legendary matriarch Fanfreluche.

This family has already produced champion Australian sires Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur as well as current Group I sire Russian Revolution, so you can see why this colt hit the target for a stallion syndicate purchaser.

$550,000 for the Home Affairs filly from The Natural.

The next Home Affairs through the ring was offered as Lot 17 by Yarraman Park and the filly from The Natural also sold for $550,000 to McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock Agency.

She is the second foal of a winning half-sister by Fastnet Rock to dual Group I winner Fiveandahalfstar and to the dam of this season’s Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes winner El Castello.

Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock signed the docket and was thrilled with the purchase, revealing some inside knowledge was a factor in the sale.

“We bought it for Tony and Calvin McEvoy. They trained the mother who had a ton of ability and she was probably better than the race record showed in the catalogue,” he said.

“First-season sire, Home Affairs, rates through the roof. He is the hottest first-season sire around and is a stunning individual.

“It is a versatile family and Fastnet Rock mares are outstanding. We loved her.”
