Go Bloodstock Purchase Snitzel Colt for $850,000

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 7

Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds and sold by Segenhoe is often a recipe for stakes success and Go Bloodstock will be hoping they have got the recipe right again after purchasing a Snitzel colt from Villami for $850,000 at Magic Millions on Tuesday.

$850,000 Snitzel colt from Villami.

Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock won the Golden Slipper last year with homebred filly Lady of Camelot and are hoping to be back again there in 2026 with this quality colt, who is the second foal of fast stakes-winning Foxwedge mare Villami.

“I remember her (Villami) as a yearling. She was a beautiful yearling and is a proven mare on the track,” said Steve O’Connor of Go Bloodstock.

“Sir Owen came out yesterday and looked at the shortlist and this was his top pick of the horses that we looked at.

“He’s looking for a good colt to support our broodmares. We have full confidence buying a son of a champion stallion out of a good, young mare off a farm like Segenhoe, who are doing it week-in-week-out with two-year-olds.

“We won the Slipper (Lady of Camelot) and then hopefully this colt can take us back next year.”

Go Bloodstock have shared in the ownership of several elite Snitzel colts that have gone on to stud careers in recent years and have high hopes this colt can replicate the success.

“There’s a lot of competition on the better colts and from a farm like Segenhoe. We were very happy with the price though and hopefully he will look cheap in two years,” O’Connor said.

“We love buying from young mares and we had a lot of success with Russian Revolution, Wild Ruler and In The Congo. Hopefully he’s the one who can take us back to all of those good races.”

The first foal from Villami, a colt by Zoustar, made $1million at this sale last year when bought by James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership and has been named Jet with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott to train. He is currently spelling after one quiet trial last month.

The third foal for Villami is a filly by Anamoe born last spring and she was then covered by Zoustar.
