Rosemont Stud Rewarded With $700,000 Pinatubo Colt

Rosemont Stud have invested in some high profile quality young mares in recent years and one of them was multiple Group winning I Am Invincible mare Fiesta, whose first foal sold for $700,000 at Magic Millions on Wednesday.

Winner of the Darley Princess Series in 2018, the Star Thoroughbreds owned mare was offered fresh off the track a the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was purchased by Rosemont Stud for $1.35 million.

She missed in her first season at stud, but redeemed herself the next year when producing an exceptional colt by Darley shuttler Pinatubo (IRE) that was purchased by Lindsay Park Racing for $700,000.

“It is a fantastic result. We were able to get a really good group of owners together,” said Ben Hayes.

“We loved him from the first time we saw him, His mum was very fast and he paraded so well through the day. Hopefully he can get some nice results.

“He’s just a lengthy, athletic type and did everything well the whole time.

“Rosemont are good supporters of ours.”

Fiesta has gotten the hang of being a broodmare and produced a colt by Dundeel last spring and is now in foal to Wootton Bassett (GB).

The $700,000 colt is the highest price so far at this sale for Pinatubo, a Champion 2YO by Shamardal.
