Blue Gum Farm Testing Classic Waters

Leading Victorian vendor Blue Gum Farm is testing the waters at Inglis Classic this week for the first time and have an intriguing draft of nine to present and the team are riding high following the success of exciting colt Return to Conquer.

The unbeaten Snitzel colt from Vaujany starred for Blue Gum Farm at the Gold Coast last year fetching $1.3million when snapped up by David Ellis and racing as Return to Conquer, he has produced two brilliant performances to win a Listed race on debut and then the Group III Colin Jillings Classic.

Return to Conquer is not the only juvenile sold by Blue Gum Farm to hit the ground running this season with speedy filly Bliss Bomb showing immediate talent for Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans. A $100,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase, the daughter of Tassort has started twice for a third at Morphettville and a dominant win at Seymour.

Blue Gum Farm will offer one of only three colts at Inglis Classic by exciting sire Too Darn Hot (GB), the Champion Australian First Crop sire last season and current leading second crop sire.

Lot 175 Colt Too Darn Hot (GB) x Dragon’s Kiss (NZ), by Divine Prophet

First foal of a placed mare from the family of serious Group I horses Hauraki, Kidnapped and Champion Stayer Vow and Declare, winner of $7.7million with his highlight victory in the Group I VRC Melbourne Cup.

Lot 316 Filly Toronado (IRE) x Impertinente (IRE), by Redoute’s Choice

Second foal of a Group III placed imported daughter of Redoute’s Choice that is a three-quarter sister to high class stakes-winning stayer Absurde, who has contested the past two Melbourne Cups.

“One for the breeding experts! This filly carries no less than 20 duplicated ancestors in her first seven generations - a feat common only to Let’s Elope as per her pedigree analysis by Andrew Reichard. A good-sized filly with scope, she presents as a staying filly true to the pedigree.”
