Payday for Better Than Ready's Hearts Are Better

Up and coming Better Than Ready filly Hearts Are Better got a valuable payday winning the $500,000 Gold Coast City Council QTIS Jewel (1200m) for 3YO’s at the Gold Coast on Saturday evening.

Better Than Ready

Having her sixth start and coming off a third in the Jewel Prelude, Hearts Are Better flew the gates under Nikita Berriman, led comfortably, kicked strongly and was never in danger of defeat at any stage.

At the finish the Matthew Hoysted trained three-year-old defeated Mr Bubbaluski (Encryption) by 1.5 lengths with Blantons Run (Rothesay) third.

The win takes her record to three wins, 1 second, and a third from six starts with earnings of $388,000.

Bred by Queensland ‘s Yarramalong Park, Hearts Are Better is raced by her breeders and partners.

She’s out of Snitzel mare Heartaches, a half-sister to Group I VRC Derby winner Magicool from a family which includes another VRC  Derby winner in Manzoice and famous two-time Ascot Gold Cup hero Gildoran.

Sadly Heartaches is no longer with us, passing away in September 2021.

Lyndhurst Stud’s outstanding Better Than Ready is having another strong year, on the cusp of the century with 99 winners so far, including three at stakes level.

He currently sits 11th on the General Sires By Winners table and 13th by earnings at over $7million for the year.
