One to Watch – Sale

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 4

Reigning Australian Horse of the Year Pride of Jenni was not the only ‘Jenni’ making a trip to the winner’s circle this weekend.

The Lindsay Park training team sent out two runners in the 1400m maiden at Sale on Sunday and filled the quinella with lightly raced Sunshine Jenni too good for her stablemate Cologne, who started favourite.

Sunshine Jenni was having just her second start and was first up from a spell following a debut fourth in November last year and The Autumn Sun filly will take plenty of benefit from her three-quarter length win.

A $230,000 Inglis Easter purchase for the Ottobre family’s Cape Schank Stud from Arrowfield Stud, Sunshine Jenni is a half-sister to Group II placed Invincible Tears and is the fourth winner from five to race from unraced Invincible Spirit mare Networking (Ger).

A half-sister to Champion HK Stayer and Group I winner Pakistan Star and German stakes-winner Nina’s Lob from stakes-winner Nina Celebre, Sunshine Jenni claims Group I German Oaks winner Next Gina as her third dam.

Sunshine Jenni has the profile to suggest longer will suit better and further maturity is sure to serve her well.
